B.A.G. (Boys and Girls): A documentary fashion film
“Boys and Girls" (BAG) is a documentary film series that kicks off in the city of Lagos exploring gender expression through the eyes of a few male and female subjects who have consented to reveal their innermost feelings regarding their born gender versus the gender they most identify. Countries like Nigeria have strong religious societal pulls that influence the general views and opinions of the citizens hence there is little or no tolerance for people and ideas that appear to be different or against the norm.
African Tradition plays a big role in forming her people’s minds and behavior yet there are a few who believe that they don’t fit into specific molds that these traditional ideas attempt to influence. Despite the repercussions insinuated by religion or the society in general, these individuals refuse to go against who they believe they are inherently.
They face regular internal and external conflict and in some cases danger amidst a hostile environment that constantly reminds them that being who are they are is either wrong and/or evil.
